Five Fact Thursday – Five Facts about RET by Jessica E. Subject
1. Even though RET is the third book in my Kaddim Brothers series, it was the story that I
had planned out and some of it written before I finished the previous two stories. Especially
chapter four.
2. The entire series was inspired by a video of the members of BTS promoting Formula E
racing. You can watch it here: https://youtu.be/aF0VHRxSWgE Seeing them at the end in their
racing suits and holding their helmets made several lightbulbs pop in my head. The ideas kept
flowing, and I knew I had to write a series about space racers.
3. Ret and his brothers are from the planet Orez, a planet in the four quadrants where omega
males can get pregnant. His kind were originally from the planet Trid, but that planet became
uninhabitable when his grandfather was young. There are many other planets in this universe
though, leading to so many possibilities for several shared universe stories.
4. Ret was the first member of the space racer team, ORIXA, and was then appointed team
leader, giving him the opportunity to hand-pick the rest of the members. There are four other
members of the team; Ilam (the youngest member), Genj (Ret’s younger brother), Qé, and Xac.
And the team always ranks high in the circuit standings, star cycle after star cycle.
5. As one of the highest-ranking space racers, Ret is pretty popular with the fans, and did
have fully-consensual sexual encounters with fans, after making sure they understood he had a
strict one-night only policy. But all that changes when he decides to have some drinks with his
introverted teammate. What happens after that? Well, you’ll have to read RET.

BLURB:
Ret Kaddim has the perfect life. He’s a space racer, the leader of the most popular team across the universe. Always planning, practicing, and racing, he has no time for a relationship, but finds plenty of willing partners who agree to his one-night-only rule. Because there is no way he wants to end up in a relationship and stuck with a family like his younger brothers. He’s having too much fun for that.
Ilam Nairan always dreamed of becoming a space racer. And thanks to a chance encounter with a retired racer, he is now living that dream. Far away from the mated and pregnant omega life his parents wanted him to have, he loves everything about his life. It’s perfect.
But one night can change everything. Especially when too much alcohol is involved. Can these two teammates survive the resulting media storm? What will it mean for their careers? The future of the team? And for them?
Ret is a sweet with knotty heat mm non-shifter mpreg sci-fi romance featuring an alpha space racer and an omega space racer who both believe they’ll always be single, snarky but loveable teammates, lots of space racing, endearing family members, an adorable baby, and a guaranteed happily ever after. If you enjoy teammates realizing they have feelings for each other, and all the obstacles those bring, be sure to download Ret today!

EXCERPT:
He set the bottle down and leaned slightly closer to me. “Now, what’s one we haven’t watched that you want to?”
My heart raced with him that much nearer, and I had to really concentrate to come up with an answer. I tried to recall all the titles I hadn’t had a chance to watch because we were often practicing. “From Planet 713.”
Ret raised his eyebrows. “You would watch that? It’s a bit gory. Maybe too scary for you.”
I crossed my arms and pouted. What did he know about what I was afraid of? “I’m not only a fan of romance, you know. I like to be scared. Gives me a weaker version of the rush I get when racing.”
Ret nodded with a smile. “I get it. But if you’re ever too scared, you can come see me.” His voice softened. “I’ll protect you. Always.”
Ret protecting me? I nearly choked on the little saliva still left in my mouth. Him taking care of me was a fantasy I’d had, but mostly I wondered what it would be like to feel safe in his arms, leaning into his wide chest.
Feeling a hand rub the back of my neck, I snapped out of my thoughts, finding Ret’s face right in front of mine. “Always,” he whispered. “I mean it.”
Frozen in his soft gaze, I thought he was going to rest our foreheads together. Yet, when he leaned closer, I felt the press of his lips to mine. No fantasy I’d ever had of him could have prepared me for this moment.
I wanted to pull away. Probably should have. But the fantasy of being held by him was still running through my mind.
His lips weren’t soft but firm as they plied my own. He knew what he was doing, taking control and pulling me quickly under his spell. I couldn’t help but want more, drawn under by the sudden rush of need.
